Si vous faites partie de celles qui ont besoin d'une dose supplémentaire de Cletus Winston dans leur vie, ce livre est fait pour vous : c'est un mixte entre le cosy mystery et la romance, dans la suite direct du tome de Cletus et Jennifer (Beard Science), il vaut mieux l'avoir lu avant de vous plonger dans celui-là, sinon beaucoup de choses vont vous échapper.

Branle-bas de combat à Green Valley après que des poules d'un éleveur soient sauvagement assassinées. Ce sont leurs oeufs que Jennifer utilise pour ses pâtisserie, très vite d'autres de ses producteurs fétiches vont avoir des déconvenues et cela devient vite un drame pour son activité (en plus de celle des producteurs hein ne l'oublions pas xD). Alors que le chérif et ses adjoints doivent se concerntrés sur des affaires impliquant biker, Cletus et Jennifer décident de tout faire pour résoudre le mystère qui leur tombe dessus et qui en est responsable... Très vite plusieurs personnes sont suspectées, restent à Cletus et Jenn a rassembler les preuves discrètement.

Outre cette affaire à élucider, ce roman nous offre une vraie suite de Beard Science, en nous montrant Jenn et Cletus dans les premiers temps de leur relations, avec tous les nouveaux challenges que cela représente pour chacun d'eux. Malgré l'ambiance légère et un peu loufoque du roman, il y a quand même de sérieuses étapes de couple qu'ils vont devoir passer ensemble, des discussions importantes et, comme son nom l'indique, des engagements à prendre !

Ce roman montre aussi comment la relation entre Jennifer et sa mère évolue. On a pu avoir des infos furtives dans les tomes des Winston, ici on approfondi les choses. Penny Reid nous donne aussi quelques scènes entre frères qui sont toujours adorables (Billy, soupirs...).

If you are one of those who needs an extra dose of Cletus Winston in their life, this book is for you : it's a mix between cozy mystery and romance, it directly follows Cletus and Jennifer's book ( Beard Science ), you better read it before you dive into this one, otherwise you might not understand some things.

Uproar in Green Valley after a breeder's hens are brutally murdered. It's their eggs that Jennifer uses for her pastry, very quickly other of her favorite producers will have troubles and it quickly becomes a tragedy for her activity (in addition to that of the producers let's not forget xD). While the sheriff and his assistants must work on matters involving biker, Cletus and Jennifer decide to do everything to solve the mystery that falls on them and find the culprit... Very quickly several people are suspected, Cletus and Jenn must discreetly gather the evidence.

In addition to this mystery to be elucidated, this novel offers us a real sequel to Beard Science, showing us Jenn and Cletus in the early stages of their relationship, with all the new challenges that this represents for each of them. Despite the light and a little wacky atmosphere of the novel, there are still some serious couple stages that they will have to go through together, important discussions and, as the name suggests, engagement to make !

This novel also shows how the relationship between Jennifer and her mother evolves. We were able to get some sneaky info in the Winston tomes, here we dig deeper. Penny Reid also gives us some scenes between the brothers who are always adorable (Billy, sighs...).

heureusement que j'étais en vacances pour lire ce livre car devoir attendre de n'être plus au boulot pour le lire aurait été insupportable (oui bon je sais j'exagère un peu...), car j'ai passé littéralement ma journée à le lire, ne m'arrêtant que pour manger xD

déjà le préquel "Beard With Me" nous a mis dans des conditions émotionnelles fortes, mais alors là Penny Reid nous achève à coup de pelle. Vous pensiez sortir indemne du tome de Billy et Claire/Scarlett ? et ben non, bam premières poussières dans les yeux dès le chapitre 4 ! Et c'est que le début. Nous allons du couinage intensif (sexy Billy qui sort de la salle de bain en serviette ♥) à l'émotion qui nous tombe dessus d'un coup, parce que des gens disent des choses, et si même les persos pleure, comment voulez-vous faire autrement T-T ?

Rassurez-vous, ce roman est certes chargé niveau émotion, mais il est aussi rempli de comique Winstonien : quand toute la fratrie + conjoint.es + enfants se retrouvent tous en vacances en Toscane, il se passe forcément des choses absurdes (c'est pas tout le temps la faute de Cletus xD). Le résumé le dit : toute la famille va se liguer ensemble avec pour seul objectif que Billy et Scarlett finissent ensemble à la fin des vacances. Tous les coups sont permis, toutes les stratégies plus au moins subtiles pour que Billy et Scarlett passent du temps ensemble et se parlent.

Billy et Scarlett ont beaucoup à dire, ils ont passé des années chacun à se morfondre dans leurs actions passées et des conséquences qu'elles ont eu, chacun n'ayant jamais eu la totale vérité sur ce qui s'est passé et sur pourquoi l'autre a agit ainsi (tout ça c'est dans Beard With Me). Le chemin pour arriver au fond des choses ne va pas être une partie de plaisir, ils souffrent tous les deux et ce qu'ils ont à se dire ne leur fait pas forcément plaisir d'emblée... mais ils sont tous les deux très motivés à être avec l'autre, parce qu'ils n'ont jamais cessé de s'aimer *-*

et puis on a des scènes très adorables de Billy et Jethro et de Scarlett et Sienna, et de tous les autres Winston les un avec les autres ♥ Penny nous offre aussi un épilogue digne de ce nom (même si j'ai un peu lâché l'affaire pour savoir quelle marmaille appartenait à qui xD).

bref, ici se clôt la série avec brio, ils vont tous me manquer, mais heureusement que les séries dérivés des Smartypants Romance proposent plein de caméos ^^

Thank Thor I was on vacation to read this book because having to wait to be finished with work to read it would have been unbearable (yes, I know I'm exaggerating a bit...), because I literally spent my day to read it, only stopping to eat xD

The prequel "Beard With Me" had already put us in strong emotional conditions, but here Penny Reid kills us with a shovel. You thought you would be unscathed from the tome of Billy and Claire/Scarlett ? Nooo, first "dust in the eyes" at chapter 4 bam ! And that's only the beginning. We go from intensive squealing (sexy Billy coming out of the bathroom with just a towel ♥) to all the feels that falls on us at once, because people say things, and if the characters are crying, how would not do it too T_T ?

Do not worry, this novel is certainly charged with emotion, but it is also full of Winstonian antics : when all siblings + spouses + children are all on vacation in Tuscany, absurd things happens (and it's not always Cletus' fault xD). The synopsys says it : the whole family is ganging up with the sole objective that Billy and Scarlett are together at the end of the holidays. All tricks are allowed, all strategies, subtle or not, so that Billy and Scarlett spend time together and talk to each other.

Billy and Scarlett have a lot to say, they have spent years moping in their past actions and the consequences they've had, each never having the full truth about what happened and why the other has done so (all this is in Beard With Me). The path to forgiveness is not a pleasant one, they both suffer and what they have to say does not necessarily make them happy right away... but they are both very motivated to be with each other, because they never stopped loving each other *-*

and then we've got really adorable scenes with Billy & Jethro and Scarlett & Sienna, and from all the other Winston's with each other ♥ Penny also offers us an epilogue worthy of the name (even though I gave up to find out what brood belonged to whom xD).

in short, here the series ends brilliantly, I will miss them, but fortunately the series of Smartypants Romance offer plenty of cameos ^^

Ce roman est le préquel au tout dernier tome de la série des Winston Brothers qui sera sur Billy et Scarlett. Il raconte les quelques semaines qui ont changé la vie de deux ados très attachés l'un à l'autres et des circonstances malheureuses de leur séparation. Tout ce qui est raconté dans ce livre, on l'a déjà appris depuis le début de la série (mais bon si vous êtes comme moi et que vous oublié pas mal de détail, vous allez redécouvrir certains trucs).

Autant le dire d'emblée, ce livre est très émotionant xD si vous avez un petit coeur sensible comme moi, vous allez avoir des poussières plein les yeux assez souvent. En fait c'est simple dès qu'il se passe un truc, je pleure : revoir la fratrie Winston version ados/pré ados/enfant, pouf les yeux qui brillent xD ; première apparition de Bethany, pouf des larmes ; Billy et Scarlett qui se font des yeux doux, pouf des larmes etc... Je n'ai donc lu ce livre que lorsque j'étais chez moi, bien cachée sous mon plaid (même s'il faisait chaud). Je ne crois pas qu'un autre livre m'a fait autant pleurer, mais c'est peut-être parce que c'est une love story tragique et pas une romance, et qu'on sait déjà comment ça finit...

Encore une fois Penny Reid nous délivre un roman qui ne laisse pas indifférent, et il promet des retrouvailles dans Beard Necessities très chargées en émotion.

This novel is the prequel to the latest book of the Winston Brothers series, which will be about Billy and Scarlett. It tells the few weeks that changed the lives of two teenagers very attached to each other and the unfortunate circumstances of their separation. Everything told in this book is in the other books, from the beginning of the series (but if you are like me and you forgot a lot of details, you will rediscover some things).

Let me say it first : this book is very emotional xD if you have a touchy heart like me, you will have dust in your eyes quite often. It's simple, as soon as something happens, I cried : see the Winston siblings as teens/child, puffy eyes xD ; first appearance of Bethany, and I cried ; Billy and Scarlett looking at each other with feelings, and I cried... So I read this book when I was at home, well hidden under my plaid (even if it was summer hot). I don't think another book made me cry so much, but maybe it's because it's a tragic love story and not a romance, and we already know how it ends...

Once again Penny Reid give us a novel that doesn't leave us indifferent, and it promises a very emotional reunion in Beard Necessities .
